Event Description

Race Across Rhode Island

Challenge yourself this summer to achieve a unique, Rhode Island-themed mileage goal. The Great Rhode Race will span the entire summer beginning on June 20th and concluding on September 22nd. You will have the option to choose from five different events ranging in distance from 60 miles to 1,212 miles! Although technically this is a running challenge, we encourage people to include walking, biking, and swimming to get in extra miles and shake up their routine. You can chose to run, walk, bike, or swim anywhere and anytime as long as you log the miles. You will log your miles directly into the RunSignUp System and will be able to track your progress as you go.

All participants will receive a tank top or t-shirt and a medal at the conclusion of the challenge. (Tank/shirt design will be announced soon!)

**Disclaimer: Please do not run, walk or bike on unsafe roads or areas that have been closed off to the public. Practice social distancing and any other requirements set forth by local, state and federal guidelines. Remember, this is a virtual event only. Please do not gather as a crowd in any single location at the same time.

Make A Difference

The Great Rhode Race will be benefiting the Rhode Island Community Food Bank which distributes food to people in need through a statewide network of 168 member agencies. These agencies include food pantries, meal sites, shelters, youth programs and senior centers. It has played a crucial role in addressing the increased demand for food assistance as a result of the COVID-19 public health emergency. During the month of April alone, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank distributed 42% more food to those in need compared to the same time period last year. As the crisis continues, more and more people will need food assistance. You can help support the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and fellow Rhode Islanders in three ways:

Register:

Half of all proceeds will be donated to the RI Food Bank.

Donate:

Make a direct contribution in honor of someone you love.

Fundraise:

Raise awareness throughout the course of the challenge.
