Event Description

Thank you for social distancing and staying safe.  The cold and rainy spring is ending!  Now that the weather is getting nicer, we have an opportunity to get outside, get some fresh air, and help out some local organizations, all while staying safe.

Join us June 20 as we look to venture outside to run or walk a 5k and give back to the community in our first Virtual Reach Out and Run 5k sponsored by Medway Community Church.   

• 50% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Medway House Family Shelter, a program of SMOC (South Middlesex Opportunity Council).  Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Medway House is an emergency shelter for 12 homeless families at a time.  In addition to providing shelter for families, the staff assists families in acquiring permanent affordable housing, as well as, counseling, education, vocational, and social services and referrals.
• 50% of the proceeds from the event will go towards supporting selected local businesses like Nicky's Family Dining in Wrentham, TC Scoops in Medway and Pete's Nerd Emporium in Franklin. The proceeds will be used for either gift cards that will be awarded as prizes or straight donations.

All participants who register before June 1 will be guaranteed a Reach Out and Run 5k shirt that you can pickup prior to the event.   Details for pickup will be emailed to you in June.  Prior to June 1, the registration fee for adults is $20.  Children 12 and under are $10.  Registration fees will increase after June 1.

So......how does the Virtual Reach Out and Run 5K work?

• On June 20, put on your official Reach Out and Run 5k shirt.
• Pick any route in any location and run or walk a 5k between 9am and 5pm.  In order to stay safe, we will not be gathering face to face all in one place.
• Make sure you're following us on social media (@medwaycc). Take a picture of yourself and post it on social media using the hashtag #reachoutandrun5k and tag us in the post.  We will pick winners at random to win a gift card to a local business like TC Scoops in Medway, Nicky's Family Dining in Wrentham, or Pete's Nerd Emporium in Franklin.
• Tell us you finished.  Upload your results.  
• Congratulate yourself for completing your fitness goal and supporting local organizations like the Medway House family shelter.
