Event Description

Sponsored by the Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA), Grandpa's Run for the Walleye was established 24 years ago in memory of Grandpa Boots Buthman.  The course, starting and finishing at the Crosslake Community Center, is on a flat scenic route through beautiful Crosslake.

We are excited to announce our special 24th annual Grandpa's 5K Run for the Walleye, which will be a Virtual Race taking place of the traditional Grandpa's Run for the Walleye.  The Virtual Race will be July 3-11 and is open to everyone!   The race this year will be only a 5K run/walk; the 10K and kids Sunfish Dash will occur again in 2022.  We do encourage families to include their children in the 5K event and if they register, they will also earn a shirt.  As it is a family event, strollers and dogs are welcome.  Fee is $30 per Entrant.

The proceeds from the Run have been used to enhance fish habit in the Whitefish Chain of Lakes.  However, for 2021, all proceeds will go to the Area Food Shelves.

WHAT IS A VIRTUAL RUN?
In a virtual run, you will run a 5K on your own, or with a friend (making sure to follow social distancing guidelines). We encourage you to run our traditional 5K Course if you are in Crosslake during the July 3-11 time period.  However, it can be run anywhere in the world if that is more convenient.  Click Here for the Crosslake traditional 5K course.  Note we have made several minor changes due to expected street closures.

You will want to keep track of your time and insure you run at least a 5K (3.1 miles).

When finished with your run, you submit your time using the different options listed below.

That’s it!
