The Life Worth Living 4K Run, Walk and Family Fun Day at Abbott Farms is an event to raise awareness to prevent suicide.
The 4K course is open to all, whether looking for a competitive race or just a fun time. Certain to be unique, the course will run through various areas on the farm including a corn maze! Not your average race!
Abbott Farms will have ice cream, bakery goods, berry picking and a variety of other family fun events. And don't forget to visit the baby animals in the barnyard. The Cider House Grille will be open with a full menu of grilled entrees and treats. Abbotts is well known for providing lots of fun on the farm for families and kids! For those over 21, be sure to check out the Four Grand Wine & Cidery at Abbotts, specializing in small batch hard ciders made from apples and fruit grown on site. They also serve some of the best locally brewed craft beer.
The event is in memory of Zach Helfrich, a former employee of Abbotts. All who knew Zach remember his smile, sense of humor and kindness. Zach was only 19 and had just graduated Baker High School. He was headed to Virginia Tech and accepted into the prestigious Corps of Cadets, US Army ROTC. Military service was his lifelong dream. Sadly, Zach unexpectedly took his life on August 16, 2019. Let's celebrate our love for Zach at the Life Worth Living day at Abbotts and raise awareness to prevent other similar tragedies.
Funds raised will support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention which is a national organization whose mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. Our local chapter of the AFSP delivers innovative prevention programs, educates the public about risk factors and warning signs, raises funds for suicide research and programs, and reaches out to those individuals who have lost someone to suicide.
COVID-19 - Runner's Safety is our First Priority. The Life Worth Living event and Abbott Farms will comply with state and county recommendations in place on August 16. We will provide handwashing stations and hand sanitizer. To support social distancing guidelines in place at the time of the event, we may adjust the Race and Walk to include staggered wave starts, face coverings and specific pedestrian patterns. Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the date. Visit www.abbottfarms.com for the latest updates on their COVID safety programs. A Virtual 4K option has also been provided.
