Saturday, September 19, 2020. Join with us for the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Festival of San Fermin - the patron Saint of Pamplona Spain. This annual event, made famous by author Earnest Hemingway, has participants chased by angry horned bulls. The Pensacolar encierro features the Pensacola Roller Gurlz as the “Bulls”. As the first canon is set off at 10:00 a.m. the runners will take to the roughly one mile course. At the second canon blast the Bulls will be released, wielding wiffle bats, to chase down the participants. As is customary in Pamplona runners are requested to wear all white with red kerchiefs or sashes.
Following the Running of the Bulls the festival will continue in the Seville Quarter Party Lot with live Latin entertainment; beverages and food for purchase. Prizes will be awarded to the Best Group, Best Horns (roller derby bulls), Best Senor, Best Senorita, Most outlandish costume and the Viva! Spirit Award.
The Running of the Bulls is proud to partner with the USO of Northwest Florida to provide service men and women with support, snacks, meals and assistance with staying in touch with their loved ones. Many of whom are away from home for the first time.
The USO creates and maintains strong connections between service members and their families, homes and country, no matter where they serve. The USO expresses America’s gratitude and commitment to service members and their families through programs focused on connection, strengthening, wellness and resiliency. USO Northwest Florida has for centers and serves twelve bases in our area. Last year, more than 220,000 military members were served in USO centers and another 190,000 through outreach programs. This would not be possible without fundraising events like Running of the Bulls.
