Event Description

Thank you for participating in the 5th Annual Oquirrh Mountain Half Marathon & 5K. We promise you that you will enjoy the beautiful, narrow and meandering Middle Canyon and the remarkable vistas on the Anaconda (Smelter) Road. From this run, you will have a wondrous view of the Great Salt Lake.

Event details and schedule

Half Marathon

Start Location Runners should assemble at the Cedarview LDS chapel in Tooele. This is located at the end of 690 East. It is relatively easy to find. Come into Tooele on Main Street. Turn left (east from Main Street onto 1000 North. Travel east up 1000 North until you come to 690 East. Turn left onto 690 East. You will see the chapel is at the end of the street. Registration will be at the back of the chapel.

Registration Registration begins at 5:00 AM. Here you will receive your shirt (if you registered on time) and your number. You will have plenty of time to hydrate, use the bathroom (in the church), apply your number, and perform your various pre-race rituals. If you arrive later than 6:00, there is no guarantee that you will make the start time. There are indoor bathrooms here that will be available.

Shuttle to Start Line All racers will be shuttled to the start line. The race will begin at 6:00 AM when all racers have been shuttled up to the start line.

The Course The course will be marked at every mile. There will be a watering station at about 3.5 miles. There will be water and electrolytes there. The second (and fourth) station will be at mile 6. This is where you turn up Smelter Road. This same station will be revisited when you come back out onto Droubay road. New this year is the third (and fifth) watering station is at mile 7.5. The fourth and furthest water station is at mile 9. This is the turnaround spot. The finish line will be back at the church where you registered (and parked your car)

Finisher Medal  There will be a medal for all who finish the race. There will also be refreshments at the finish line. The Awards ceremony will be at 10:00 AM or when all runners have completed the course—whichever comes first.

 

5K
