Event Description

This is a practice run to test wave starts for racing in a lockdown environment. This is not a race - just a practice session to test out wave starts for racing. It could involve several line-up and start trials. If you want to run before or after the session, please feel free to do so. The Open Street where Kalakaua is closed to traffic from 6:00 a.m. till noon is happening that day so you may want to take the opportunity to cruise up and down Kalakaua.

Facial covering is required before and after the session. You do not need to wear a facial covering during the line-up(s) or if you actually go for a run. Please do not "bunch up" prior, during, or after the practice - maintain social distancing. The start waves will be at social distancing so there will be several waves (corrals). A start mat will be set up as part of the practice. When you register, you will be asked for a predicted finish time so that the waves (corrals) can be established. The distance is set up for 2 miles so enter your predicted finish time accordingly. In general, the faster runners will be in the first wave to minimize passing on a race course.

This practice session is meant to help determine how best to restart competitive racing on Oahu with safe practices.  Racing will be very different going forward. Your participation will help establish safe, efficient race procedures so if we have you line up at the start more than one time, please be patient and remember this is something that will help the entire running community get back to racing. Mahalo!
