In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of nearly all events scheduled for this summer, we thought about how we could participate in a group event but still follow all of the social distancing guidelines in order to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators. The answer is simple.... go VIRTUAL!
What does our virtual event look like?
Our event will run from Saturday, August 1 - Tuesday, September 1. During this time we encourage you to get out and move! Upon registering, you will be given instructions on how to join our virtual tracking team so you can track your walks/runs/rides throughout the week.
While the challenge is to complete 100 miles in 30 days, the ultimate goal of this event is to give those of us that have been in our homes during these challenging times a reason to go out and get healthier, provide a virtual location to meet people with like interests and foster a little healthy competition as we move toward the goal of 100 miles.
Don't think you can make it the full distance? Who cares? Do what you can.
Don't feel comfortable spending that much time outdoors during the COVID outbreak? No problem. If you have a treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bike or similar, use that and log your time and miles.
This challenge is free to all participants so that means you won't receive the normal trinkets that go along with a paid registration but we have a couple of ways that you can receive a hat from our charity Angel's Wings Transport.
Please, join us and invite your friends to get out and move!
