Pikes Peak Road Runners (PPRR) and the Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC) have collaborated to create a NEW challenge in 2020; In place of the long-running American Discovery Trail races, participate in a new virtual challenge race! The two organizations have worked together for years to hold the ADT Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10k races, where all proceeds were given back to our community. We are dedicated to trail stewardship and community running events striving to make the Pikes Peak Region a great place to live and be active as a family. Please help continue this community-based effort by running a new unique challenge and contributing to our important community cause.
PPRR was informed early in 2020 that the City of Colorado Springs would not be allowing any events to take place in America the Beautiful Park due to the construction of the Olympic museum and pedestrian bridge. We immediately started searching for new venues to hold a quality event. COVID-19 then gripped the world and instead of canceling the race all together, we reimagined what racing to benefit our community could look like in 2020, creating the Two Shoes Trek Challenge / 2020 Virtual.
This event showcases several county and city trails throughout our unique and beautiful city. Participants will run a short series over two weekends, a long series over two weekends, or the super series, where participants run all distances over two weekends. All proceeds from these events will go directly back into the Colorado Springs community for park and trail maintenance. This will help both organizations thrive through this challenging and uncertain period; as the impact of the pandemic has hit nonprofit organizations especially hard.
All donations will be split between El Paso County Parks, Trails and Open Space Coalition and Pikes Peak Road Runners.
