Event Description

 Naples Velo Bicycle Club will hold the 1st Jean Heuschen Memorial 200-mile, 30 mile, and 20 mile ride on Saturday, February 20, 2021.This event will be supported by Fit & Fuel, Naples Pathways Coalition, SW Florida Blue Zones Project and Pan-Florida Challenge. We invite cyclists of all ages and skill levels to join in celebrating the life of Jean Heuschen and helping to support cycling safety awareness here in Collier County by participating in this event. So grab the chamois cream and join us!

All stages and rides will depart from Fit & Fuel and return to the same location.

The 200 miles will be comprised of four stages. The pace will be 20-21 mph.

We hope to have numerous riders accept the challenge to ride 200 miles with Louie Mele and many more riders supporting these riders by riding a stage or two with them.
 
There will also be two alternative rides:
An up to 20-mile family ride at the rider’s own pace doing up to four laps around Pelican Bay. 

And a 30-mile ride at 18 to 20 mph riding to the end of Gordan Drive and back.

During the afternoon we will be conducting a family friendly “Bike Rodeo” for kids & parents. 

 Registration will also be available the day of the event. Registration is free. However, we ask that you make a contribution of at least $25 to the Jean Heuschen Cycling Safety Awareness Fund. This Fund, established upon the passing of Jean with the approval of his family will focus on financially supporting various forms of educational medium to enlighten cyclists, pedestrians and motorists about rules, laws, proper behavior and attitude needed to make our roads and streets in southwest Florida safe for all users.
Naples Velo is sponsoring a Happy Hour at Fit & Fuel from 6 pm until 8 pm following the rides.
All participants in the rides will receive their first beer free.  ‌
