About the Virtual Challenge

Miles for Mentorship is a month-long virtual challenge in support of the Clarke County Mentor Program (CCMP). The goals of the challenge are (1) to raise funds for our organization, (2) to increase awareness of our organization in the Athens community, and (3) to hopefully provide a spark of joy in these challenging times. The format of the challenge is simple:

→ Sign up anytime before October 31st

→ Wherever

Participate from anywhere.

→ Whenever

Participate on your own schedule as much or as little as you like. Go at your own pace. Log mileage between October 1st - 31st.  

→ Whatever

Run, walk, bike.
Skip, hop, jump. 
Swim.
Kartwheel.
Whatever.
You do you!

→ All are welcome to participate

• Stretched thin and only up for a couple walks around your neighborhood? No worries. We would love to have your participation!

• Been looking for a little extra motivation to get out and exercise more? Perfect. This virtual challenge would be great for you!

• Serious endurance athlete who covers major distances? Awesome. Get some of your friends to sign up with you and have a friendly competition!

→ What's the difference between the different mileage options?

Nothing except for providing you a goal for a little extra personal motivation. Let's say you sign up for the 5 mile virtual challenge, get into a groove, and end up completing 12 miles between October 1st - 31st ... No problem; you can still log the entire 12 miles. Alternatively, let's say you sign up for 50 miles, life gets busy, and you end up completing 30 miles ... Same thing, no issue. You can log the 30 miles, and you will still be a rockstar for having covered so much distance over the course of a month.

About Our Program

The Clarke County Mentor Program (CCMP) was established in 1991 as a joint initiative between the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and the Clarke County School District. Our mission is to recruit, train, and support community volunteers to mentor Clarke County School District children to help them reach their full potential. In our 29-year history, we have mentored thousands of students across every grade level in all 21 schools within the Clarke County School District.
