Event Description

Join Enduring Hearts and Big Gifts for Little Lives for our very first virtual Race for Resilience for World Heart Day, September 29, 2020! Right now the harsh reality is that heart transplants don't last forever, the average lasting only 17 years. And one in four transplants will fail largely due to organ rejection. Of those who have another transplant, nearly half will not survive.

At Enduring Hearts, we believe that every child that needs a new heart should be able to get one that lasts a lifetime; and that no child should have an expiration date on their second chance at life. That is why we fund life-saving research that increases the longevity of pediatric heart transplants, improves the quality of life for children living with a new heart, and eliminates pediatric heart diseases that may lead to a transplant.

The Race for Resilience will be held virtually on the 17 days leading up to World Heart Day to give supporters the chance to participate in different events to honor each of the years that a heart transplant lasts, on average. We challenge each of you to see how far you can run throughout these 17 days to honor each of our heart warriors living with a new heart to reach 1,700 Kilometers before World Heart Day!
