The Pinnacle event:  The Summit Plummet Duathlon

3 mile run(or walk/hike), 44 mile bike, 1.4 mile run. Your adventure will start with a  ride on the Mt Rainier Gondola where you'll head up to the top of Crystal Mountain and starting line - elevation 7012 feet.  The run/walk/hike will begin at the Summit House and descend 3100 ft on 3-mile trail to the base of the ski area and into the main parking lot.  Transition from your trail gear to bike gear and ride the 44 mile, 4000 foot drop from Crystal to Nolte State Park in Enumclaw.  When you get to Nolte, you'll run/walk 1.4 miles on the trail around Deep Lake.

Trail Plummet

3 mile run, walk, or hike.   This is the first leg only of the Summit Plummet described above - but your finish line is at the Taco Stand!

Kids Trail Plummet:

3 mile run, walk, or hike.   The same event described above but for kids age 5-15. You'll need to do this with at least one adult entered in the Trail Plummet - but bring the whole family if you want to!  Family members that want to enjoy the adventure from the Gondola (both up and down) can enjoy the summit and get glimpses of you as you plummet down. For liability reasons, every member of the family accompanying the kid plummeters need to be entered into the Trail Plummet.

Time Trial Bike Plummet:

44 miles downhill bike ride/time trial.  If cycling is your main thing, sign up for the Time Trial Plummet - the 44 mile, 4000 foot drop from Crystal to Nolte State Park in Enumclaw. A gondola ride isn't necessary for this event - you'll start in the parking lot. But there is a free complimentary ticket provided to you so enjoy the ride and the views before you and your bike plummet.

This is a Virtual event in 2020

Head up anytime during the 3-week window or August 15 - September 6.  If you're heading all the way down to Enumclaw, you'll need to have some help with you. No shuttles or rides back to the mountain provided.

Find the RaceJoy Experience Here

All RTB Virtual events will be using the Racejoy App which will turn the solitary virtual experience into a fun interactive event with race staff, spectators, & other competitors. Each athlete/participant will carry their phones (not such a bummer keep reading) which will serve as a GPS tracker. You'll be able to keep an eye on the course, receive alerts if you move off-course, receive progress alerts, cheers from families/friends and have results automatically available. Your race-day supporters can download the app and know right where you are every plummeting step of the way.  Learn more about RaceJoy Here.

Competition or Recreation -   You choose.

Whether you consider yourself a competitive athlete, recreational competitor, hiker, or just someone who likes to move around outside, we welcome you to this and all RTB events. The virtual space has opened up the possibility for ANYONE to take on and complete an endurance challenge without the pressure of competition (It turns out not everyone likes that!) We hope many recreational athletes will jump in and discover the fun of multisport with us.

There's Swag

About 2 weeks after the event has concluded,  you'll receive a race shirt, medal, and a goodie or two from the RTB event warehouse delivered to your door. This time gap will allow us to order only the shirts and medals we need and helps us keep the cost of the event down.
You can also order commemorative pint glasses,  race hoodies, or extra shirts (for family and friends tagging along)
