Event Description

Welcome to the monthly virtual race series for social justice causes that lives up to our company name, the Run for Good Race Series for Social Justice, presented by Run for Good Racing Co. Each month we choose a different PNW nonprofit working for social justice to support. 100% of the proceeds goes to this nonprofit. Races will take place on the last weekend of each month. Participants who sign up can log miles from 12:01am Saturday through 11:59pm Sunday, report the miles and if the collective miles reaches a certain goal (dependent on how many participants sign up) Run for Good Racing will chip in an extra donation. Just $10 to sign up and you get a printable race bib and access to the miles tracker. You can add a donation to the nonprofit at the time of registration.

Our next race in the series will be held on September 26th and 27th and will benefit Lavender Rights Project.

F.A.Q.

Q: What type of miles are allowed?

A: Runs, walks, crawls, paddles, outside or treadmill, wheelchair.  Unfortunately bike miles do not count. Only miles that are intended for this event (meaning not walking around the house).

Q: Can I do multiple runs and walks over the weekend and count them all?

A: Yes, any miles you complete between 12:01am on Saturday through 11:59pm on Sunday can be counted.

Q: How do I record my miles?

A: On our results page, down below. Results page will open on the weekend of the race and be open for 2 days after weekend to allow you to upload your miles.

Q: When will we know how many miles will trigger an additional donation?

A: We will announce the miles goal the Friday before race weekend. We have to wait and see how many participants sign up to determine how many miles is a challenge but reachable! We will be announcing accumulated mileage throughout the weekend on our Facebook page.

Q: Can I participate if I do not live in Washington?

A: Absolutely!

Q: How much of my registration and donation money goes to the nonprofit?

A: All of it!

Q: When does registration close?

A: Registration will be open until 11:59pm on Sunday, September 26 at 11:59pm

Q: What do I get with my registration?

A: A printable bib to wear proudly during your weekend full of running and walking, access to the mileage upload, and the knowledge that you are helping with social justice.

Q: How do you choose your nonprofits?

A: You will choose them!  Anyone who registers and completes at least one mile in their month will have the chance to vote on the next month's nonprofit choice.

About Lavender Rights Project:

Lavender Rights Project (LRP) advances a more just and equitable society by providing low-cost civil legal services and community programming centered in values of social justice for trans and queer low-income people and other marginalized communities.

Through direct representation and community programming, our by-and-for services aim to radically re-imagine the legal landscape for LGBTQ+ people while building community resilience, encouraging self-advocacy, and asserting the rights of marginalized populations.

VALUES
Our staff, Board, and volunteers aim to serve, engage, and pursue justice alongside community members in ways that are intentional and accessible for folks who are under-represented. While continuing to examine our own experiences with privilege and oppression, we are committed to providing comprehensive support for people at the intersections of LGBTQI+ identity and: anti-blackness, xenophobia, and racism; disability; low-income economic status; and/or experience with incarceration and the legal system.

HISTORY
Lavender Rights Project was founded in 2016 by queer and trans attorneys who witnessed the compounding effects of under-representation and blatant discrimination of LGBTQ+ community members within the legal field. The unique and complex needs of queer and trans people drove co-founders Morgan Mentzer and Lucas Cuellar to form our organization’s mission and center our services on queer and trans community members who are also people of color, low income, and/or facing additional intersecting forms of marginalization and misrepresentation.
