Event Description
Thank you for participating in our 2020 Virtual Fighting Autoimmunity 5K! We are honored you chose to support our 501c3. Profits from this event will be directed to two organizations that continue the fight with Autoimmune Disease: CONQUER at UT-Southwestern, which focuses on research and further treatments for various AI diseases, and CAP, the Children's Alopecia Project which sends families with Alopecia to surf camp. Over the past five years, we have donated over $83,000 to these two organizations!
Autoimmune Disease affects more than 50 million Americans according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and that number is rising. Researchers have identified 80-100 different autoimmune diseases and suspect at least 40 additional diseases of having an autoimmune basis. These chronic diseases affect the immune system's ability to recognize foreign cells, so it attacks normal, healthy cells (referred to as Autoimmunity). With the recent COVID-19 Pandemic and restrictions for group activities, we felt a virtual event was the safest methodology due to the high-risk category for many of our family members/friends who suffer from Autoimmune Disease.

HOW IT WORKS
Sign up for the race and print your bib (optional). Invite family and friends and brag on social media. Get ready to run, hydrate, stay strong and healthy!
THE RUN
Complete your distance (5K or 1M) during the Labor Day Weekend starting on Friday Sat 9/4 - Mon 9/7. Invite family and friends to do that same. Have fun, be safe and keep track of time, of course!
HOW TO SUBMIT RESULTS AND PRINT FINISHER'S CERTIFICATE: Click on RESULTS at the top of the web page. Then click on "SUBMIT VIRTUAL RESULTS", Post your time and your results are recorded. There also will be a link to print your Finisher's certificate on that same page. Results may be submitted until Sunday 11:59 PM.
T-shirt sizes available: Child size S, M, L; XL, Adult S, M, L, XL, XXL. T shirts will be ordered after the event to ensure correct sizing- no substitutions allowed. T-shirts will be available for local pick up/delivery by Sept 14th (location TBA); please allow 2-3 weeks for postal delivery.
All finishers will also receive a vinyl sticker to show your pride and accomplishment!
