Event Description

Hey Team- are you like me and totally ready to get back to group runs and racing??!? Well we thought we would give all of the chance to do both at the same time while giving back to a Title 1 School in need! That's right we are helping out one of Duval County's Title 1 school, Pinedale Elementary who are in dire need for hand sanitizer among other things.

A Bit About Pinedale:
Pinedale Elementary, a Title I school on the Northwest side of Jacksonville, serves 500 brilliant and resilient Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade students including the region’s two special education units (Communication and Social Skills & PRIDE Day-Treatment). Currently rated a “D” school by Florida’s school grading system, our team is on a mission to be a “B” or better this year. We have a revitalized vision and have re-grounded ourselves in high expectations. We are committed to challenging stigmas and status-quos and creating an inclusive and joyful learning environment. We have the dedicated staff ready to put in the work to move achievement forward. We need your help in securing resources to make it happen.

The Need:
Covid-19 has amplified the need for additional resources while simultaneously burdening Pinedale’s school budget. We have many pressing needs. However, our first priority is the safety of our students and staff given the pandemic. Once we have ensured a safe environment, our next priority will be supplementing instructional supplies. Pinedale Elementary has specifically endured the following reductions:

  • State UniSig Grant decreased by $73,644 (monies purchase supplemental instructional materials)
  • 41% decrease in overall supply budget
  • 73% decrease in operation of plant budget (monies used to purchase custodial supplies)
  • 1 teaching position cut (enrollment remains the same)
  • Student laptops as they were redistributed to families in need for virtual education earlier this year
