Event Description
The New England Middle School Virtual Cross Country Championship is the culmination of the six state New England Middle School Virtual Cross Country Challenge Series. Race against runners in your home state and then take on the top middle school runners from New England.
We realize that regional, in-person competitions are not going to happen in the fall of 2020. We also realize that every cross country course is different.
So, in an effort to create a regional competition that is on equal footing, we are happy to announce the 2020 New England Middle School Virtual Cross Country Championships. Each state is hosting their own Middle School Virtual Cross Country Challenge, but the New England Championship is where you find out how well you stack up against your fellow New Englanders.
This race is open to all middle school aged athletes in New England, including public schools, private schools, parochial schools, prep schools, charter schools and home school. If you are between fifth and eighth grade from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or Connecticut, you are eligible!
Does your school not have a cross country program? No problem, you can participate. Are you a soccer player and have never run a cross country race? No problem, test your endurance with either the short course or long course race. Up for a bigger challenge? Try both distances!
NEW FOR 2020: 2 Cross Country Distance Options
- Short Course distance is 1 Mile.
- Long Course distance is 2 Miles.
You can race either distance or challenge yourself to both distances!

Please note that we HIGHLY recommend downloading the mobile app to participate in the New England Middle School Virtual Cross Country Championships! The mobile app will be available to download in early October.
If you do not use the app, we recommend running on an outdoor track to ensure an accurate distance.
