The 5th annual Turkey Trot 5K/Fun Run takes place On Thanksgiving Day 2020 in scenic and historic Winfield, Alabama. The 3.1 mile course will take you down Highway 118 to the east end of town & the First Methodist Church. Head down Apple Avenue and turn on Community Street to the park. After a loop through Ivan K. Hill park, past Winfield Middle School and up the hill past the football stadium and through the city cemetery, you will return to town and finish downhill at Bama Offroad.
***New for 2020*** All participants will receive a Turkey Trot medal upon crossing the finish line!
We will still award top 3 finishers in each age group and top male/female overall.
The course is just slightly different this year with the race beginning at Bama Offroad.
This Thanksgiving Day, show your thankfulness by helping two very worthwhile organizations based in Winfield. 100% of the proceeds from this race will benefit Winfield Police Department Toy Fund. Our police department works with families all through the year to help provide some comfort/happiness to the children who are affected by hardships through no fault of their own. They also provide Christmas to children who are affected through the legal system and may not otherwise have a Christmas.
Backpacks and Beyond is a local charity that provides weekend meals to our local school children who may not have food in their home. Many of our local children only get two good meals a day at school. Last year's donations were overwhelming - THANK YOU!
Again this year, we are asking that all runners show their thankfulness by bringing one nutritious snack/food item to donate to Backpacks and Beyond. Cheese crackers (6 pack), fruit cups, Ramen noodles, granola bars, hot chocolate mix, or oatmeal/grits packet are needed.
