Ladies and Gentleman! We are proud to announce the inception of the Fort Lauderdale 5000, formerly the Merrill Lynch Bull Run. We are even more proud to announce that we are the first running event in Broward County that has been permitted since we have entered the Pandemic. Help us make history and show South Florida it is safe to take the streets and race as we once did. We will have some new procedures and policies in place and going forward, however we can still have a great time and compete while social distancing.
Traditionally, the National Turkey Trot is held on Thanksgiving morning. This year, in an effort to keep crowds to a minimum we are going to bring the Turkey Trot to you just a few days earlier. WE STILL WANT YOU TO DRESS UP AS PILGRIMS AND SHOW FORT LAUDERDALE THAT WE STILL HAVE THAT GREAT THANKSGIVING SPIRIT - JUST A LITTLE BIT EARLY!

What is the Fort Lauderdale 5000?
A 5K is made up of 5000 meters, 3.1 miles, 16368 feet, or 196416 inches. However you want to measure it, you are still running the same distance. The only difference is some people will run that distance faster than you. On November 21st, lets see where you rank among those completing the Fort Lauderdale 5000!
How will it work?
With new regulations for social distancing we are required to have an open start line. The start line will open at 6:00am and stay open for 90 minutes. Every 8 seconds we will release up to 10 starters at a time; then at 7:30 am we will hold a start for the elites and that will be the last wave of starters. It will be up to them to run as fast as they can to try and catch as many people as they can. Once you pick up your bib or arrive, do you warm up and head to the starting line and our staff will get you started.
We encourage you to register as a group of 10 so when you start , you can race as a team with your friends. If you really want to get brave, challenge your competitors to start when you toe the line for a little one on one competition!
All age group awards will be scored off net time and the elites will be scored off one gun start time at 7:30am.
Do not arrive after 7:30am at the start line or you will not be allowed to start!
