CHRISMAHANUKWANZAKAH HALF MARATHON TRAINING

Yes, you read that right!  This December half marathon celebrates it all!  And, as a registered training program member, you get to run it in its inaugural year!

PROGRAM BASICS:

  • $75.00
  • 11 Week program
  • Group runs on Wednesdays @ 6 PM & Saturdays @ 8:30 AM
  • All levels and paces welcome – train for your first or your fastest!
  • Facebook Live Info Night on Thursday, 9/24/20 @ 6 PM (be sure to follow/like our 4RUN3 Facebook page to access)
  • Workouts will begin and end at 4RUN3 in East Longmeadow (unless winter road/sidewalk conditions cause us to move to a safer location)
  • Graduation Race: 1st Annual Christmahanukwanzakah Half Marathon* on 12/12/20 at 8AM (included with training program registration fee)

*Note: The 2020 Christmahanukwanzakah Half Marathon will NOT be open to the public this year – it will be a private race for group members only in its first year. 

TRAINING OVERVIEW:

  • Participants should be able to comfortably run or run/walk 3 miles before starting this program.
  • Group training runs will range from 3 miles to 12 miles in length.
  • Long runs on Saturday mornings feature our infamous “Water Angel Support Stops”.  We can’t put into words how awesome and clutch these support stops are – you’ll just have to see for yourself. 😊
  • Route maps with turn-by-turn directions provided.
  • Additional navigation support available using RunGo app
  • All members will receive a program packet with suggested training schedule and other helpful training information.
  • Weekly virtual coaching lessons and informative talks, aired on our private training program Facebook group page.
  • 4-5 runs per week recommended (2 with group).
  • Wednesday workouts start with group balance work and light bodyweight strength training.
  • Saturday workouts start with group dynamic stretching.
  • Recommended post-run stretching routine provided.
  • Please note: although we will always do what we can to pair you up with runners of similar pace, we cannot guarantee that you will always have someone at your pace to run with.

MODIFICATIONS FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING:

  • This group is capped at 50 participants in order to adhere to gathering size limitations.
  • You will check in inside the store, but we will meet to start the group outside.
  • Masks or buffs are REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES when you’re in the store.   
  • Once the warm up begins and as you run/walk the route, it is up to you whether or not you use a face covering. 
  • We request that you run/walk at least 6 feet away from each other while out on the route. 
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the store. 
  • Bathrooms are open and frequent handwashing is encouraged.
