BootCamp Challenge is a 5k/Obstacle Course race held at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego. First started in 2002, BootCamp Challenge was created to be a way to open the doors to the community surrounding MCRD and gives them an opportunity to take part in an exciting event rich with Marine Corps tradition. BootCamp Challenge has become a staple not only aboard MCRD, but also in the community, with participants coming from not only the local area, but across the U.S. and the world.
BootCamp Challenge is the only obstacle course race that allows participants to run through the same obstacles that turn recruits into Marines. BootCamp Challenge offers civilians the unique change to experience a taste of Marine Corps boot camp. BootCamp Challenge is a high-energy, endorphin filled adrenaline rush with over 50 obstacles including tunnel crawls, log hurdles, 6ft vertical climbing wall, cargo net crawls, and push-up stations all manned by Marine Corps Drill Instructors who are there to encourage and motivate participants through the obstacles.
BootCamp Challenge is a day where the Marine Corps opens it’s doors and allows the civilian world a glimpse of the strength and endurance required to become an United States Marine.
