For the past 27 years hundreds of people from near and far have ventured out to Burgettstown to start their Thanksgiving Day at the Turkey Trot. This event raises the bulk of the funding for kids in the Cross Country and Track and Field programs. Brave souls cope with the capricious Pennsylvania weather that can be freezing and foul or unseasonably warm. Runners and walkers alike are challenged by "the Hill," the final uphill battle to return to the school and cross the finish line.
It was with great sadness that we determined that for everyone's safety this year the beloved community event will have to be held virtually this year. We are hoping that participants will post pictures and times on social media. The kids on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams will be posting their encouragement and thanks, as well as pulling some names of racers for some thank you prizes. We are really looking forward to connecting with you as we all support out community.
