Event Description
Every year, more than 14,000 abused and neglected children in Georgia are in foster care because they are unable to live safely at home. In Glynn and Camden County alone we have between 200 and 250 children in foster care at any given time. Imagine what it would be like to lose your parents, not because of something you did, but because they can’t – or won’t – take care of you. Now, into these children’s lives come dozens of strangers: police, foster parents, therapists, social workers, judges, lawyers and more. Hopefully, one of these strangers is a CASA volunteer. CASA volunteers watch over advocate for those abused and neglected children to make sure that they move quickly through the system. The volunteer stays with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence during their ordeal. Your help is needed. All the proceeds raised via the Scrooge You 2020/Jingle All the Way 5k will go to support CASA Glynn and CASA Camden and the hundreds of volunteers that support the children of southeast Georgia.

2020 what a year. Will there be a race or won't there? The roller coaster ride has been dizzying but we're excited to announce that the race known as the Jingle All the Way 5k is taking place! However in keeping with the theme of 2020 we're holding the Scrooge You 2020 5k. You can still expect a well organized race benefitting a great cause with a little attitude and humor. The COVID pandemic has had a major impact on all of us and we're grateful for the continued support for CASA and this annual event. The funds raised from the run will directly benefit the critical volunteers that work with our foster kids.
Race date is December 5th, 2020 and will start and finish at Mary Ross park located in historic Brunswick, GA. Runners will follow a route through the historic sections of downtown and run past the CASA offices.
COVID precautions will be implemented and when not running individuals will be expected to social distance and wear masks. Please follow CASA Glynn on facebook and book mark their website to keep up to date with race info.
