Event Description
The 2020 Celtic Solstice is a "Virtual" run this year for reasons we all know and loathe. The entry fee is $10. There are optional race premiums with an original Celtic Solstice design by Cari Buziak available for purchase in the online store featuring this year's beautiful Celtic Solstice Virtual Run logo - a Celtic Caribou stomping on a coronavirus. The virtual event runs from December 1 to December 31, 2020. You have until midnight, December 31, 2020 to post your virtual results on the runsignup.com Celtic Solstice website. To print out your custom race bib, go to your profile settings in your runsignup account and select Celtic Solstice. The link to your bib is in the lower right hand corner.
$5 of the entry fee is tax-deductible and will be donated to the Celtic Star 501(c)(3) FEIN # 45-1758574. You will receive an email for your records if you itemize your tax deductions. 100% of the funds will be allocated to various race beneficiaries - there is more information on the Donation Page. If you chose to donate to one of our named beneficiaries, you will receive a separate email for your records.
The optional long-sleeve race premium is available for purchase as you pass through the online store page during registration. The premium sales will close on December 12.
This is a "Run Anywhere" virtual event. However, a map of the 2019 (and planned 2020) course along with a turn-by-turn description is presented so that those who wish to run the actual course in Druid Hill Park may do so. The event may be run in stages for those unable to cover five miles at a single outing.
Start: Intersection of Greenspring and Beechwood over by the Maryland Zoo.
East on Beechwood to Swann Drive
Left onto Swann Drive. Continue past the 3-way intersection at the Mansion House. The road name changes to East Drive.
Run past the swimming pool.
Left onto the service road at the end of the swimming pool.
Right turn onto Red Road and enter "The Bowl.
Run around the ball fields.
Right turn onto Shop Road.
Right turn onto Red Road back to East Drive.
Right turn onto East Drive to 3-way Mansion House intersection.
Right turn onto the Mansion House loop. Veer to the right and run around the loop.
Right turn onto Swann Drive
Right turn onto Beechwood.
Finish vicinity of the Memorial Oak Grove after you pass the Maryland Zoo parking lots.
