Event Description

Every year when the grass turns green and the sun shines bright in late spring, attendance at The South Davis Recovery Club wanes for a season.

For individuals and Families in Recovery, this seasonal change is a good thing.  It can often mean that people who "were once lost in the dark caverns of alcoholism, or addiction", are out playing in the sun and breathing the "free air" again.

As fewer people attend meetings in the summertime, the income for The Club suffers to the point of threatening its existence.  In 2005, Club members began to work together specifically to raise additional funds to cover the expenses of The Club, and ensure that it remains open for those who find their way to the rooms, no matter what time of the year it is.

Cell to Well has become the biggest fund raiser of the year for The Club and is vital to its existence, providing 21% of The Club's annual income. We start the 12K race at the Davis County Jail (CELL) to symbolize the freedom we lose in our addiction.  Some of us actually end up in jail, but all of us lose our freedom one way or another when we are in our addiction.  We run to The Club, a place that we can go to get WELL and live in RECOVERY - Cell-to-Well ~ Running for Recovery.

We want everyone to feel welcome so we have added a 5K for anyone else that would like to participate, but doesn't want to do the entire 12K.  We encourage everyone from serious runners to families with babies in strollers.

Please come and join us in supporting the South Davis Recovery Center and help keep the doors open one more year.  This place has personally saved my life and given me a place to go when I needed it the most.  I have watched many people over the years come in and find a better way of life.  If you have ever had to deal with anyone in addiction or are dealing with the addiction yourself, you know how important it is to keep these doors open and how much it does for individuals, families and the community as a whole.
