Join AFFIRM’s Step Up for STEM 5K, We will have a Kick-Off to help forge a path to a government STEM career through scholarships and grants.

During the weekend of the 5K (April 9-10, 2021), you will walk a total of 5,500 steps, less than 290 steps per day, to support grants and scholarships for STEM students. (Did you know the average city block has 110 steps?) Share photos (#StepUpforSTEM) from your walk: the AFFIRM Step Up for STEM website will host photos posted by participants proudly wearing their AFFIRM Step Up for STEM t-shirts during their walk. We will have a kick-off event remote stretching with our federal board and awards ceremonies! (More details coming soon) Awards will include fastest runner, fastest walker, best team spirit, and more. All walkers will get a race bib, a race tshirt, pet bandanas, a race mask and a medal.

Pets for STEM: With your pet, take your favorite pet(s) with you. Post pictures of your pet(s) wearing their AFFIRM Step Up for STEM bandana.

Craving social interaction while you walk your 5K? Make new friends through social distant walking by “pairing up” on the AFFIRM Step Up for STEM website, indicating where and when you’d like to walk together.  Expand your network using the AFFIRM Step Up for STEM website as a tool. Use #StepUpforSTEM to share photos of your quaranteam.

AFFIRM brings together people from federal agencies, industry, nonprofits and academia to educate and inform the federal IT community and nurture and mentor the next generation of IT leaders to address high level IT and management issues.
