Event Description

Tired of Virtual Races?  This is a true 5K run on Kent Island.  Our event is a family-friendly/dog-friendly race run during the doldrums of winter.  We get you off the couch and out of the house for this fun run.  Start and finish at the Kent Island Elementary School and run along the scenic Cross Island Trail.  This year the Hot Chocolate 5K happens to fall on Valentine's Day, so dress up, dress up your children, and, most importantly, dress up your dog!  You will receive your hot chocolate mug (red this year, of course) and a neck gator. 

We will be COVID-19 compliant.  The reason for the neck gator is for you to wear it at the start, finish, and any time you are near other runners.  Plus, if it is cold outside, it can be worn the whole run to keep you warm!  We will also be starting the run in waves.  We will keep you notified about other COVID-19 compliance strategies as we get closer to the date.  We want this to be a fun, safe event for everyone and every dog.

The race will be capped this year at 150 runners (10 years and younger not included in that count.  Neither are dogs.).  Kent Island Running Group members get a discount!  Become a member at KIRG.org and get your discount to this race and other local races!  Price increases on January 18th, so hurry and register because registration will close once we hit the magic number of 150 runners.  THERE WILL BE NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION!
