Event Description

Join us for our 7th annual Rare Disease Day virtual race to benefit the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and the PCD Foundation.   Participants receive a medal shaped like a looped ribbon with zebra stripes.  Four of the stripes are pink, blue, purple and green, the same shades used by Rare Disease Day. Rare diseases are represented by the zebra because of the medical saying "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." Participants also receive a bib and some give away items.

You can choose how far you want to walk or run to complete this event. Since this is for rare diseases and some people with rare diseases have trouble crossing a room, the distance you want to do is up to you.  Similar to our 5-5-5 PCD event in October, participants can do 5 meters for those with disabilities or other difficulties that prevent them from going a longer distance. 5K for those who can do more than 5 meters. And 5 miles for those of you who are athletic or just ambitious.  If you are healthy enough you can even do 10K or a half marathon.

Rare Disease Day is the last day of February each year.  This year it is the 28th.  You can complete your distance any time in February.

Quantities are limited.  This event has sold out in the past.

This event is organized by Running On Air, a nonprofit, which is not affiliated with National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) or the PCD Foundation. The proceeds from this event go to NORD with the exception of $1 for each registration which goes to the PCD Foundation.

Because of technical difficulties we are unable to enable National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) as a fundraising option.  If you would like to make a donation directly to NORD you can do so be going to their webiste: www.rarediseases.org
