Event Description

The Michigan Sports Alliance is hosting the 2021 Michigan Lighthouse Tour. The tour is a virtual team run/walk that will take you on the sightseeing journey of a lifetime around Michigan from Monday, March 1st - Monday, May 3rd, 2021! The tour is for groups of 6-24 people to collectively run or walk 2,021-mile journey around Michigan while visiting 28 lighthouses over the course of two months Michigan is home to the most lighthouses in the United States and this event highlight some of the historical lighthouses that line our shoreline around the state!

The event will kick off right in front of the Milliken State Park Lighthouse in Detroit, MI and will take you around Lake Huron, crossing the Mackinaw Bridge, through the Upper Peninsula, then down the Lake Michigan coastline and ending the journey at the St. Joseph North Pier Lighthouse in St. Joseph, MI!

Participants will benefit from a t-shirt, finisher's medal, pre-mapped course, virtual travel experience and a virtual race bib. When the participant/team reaches one of the 28 mapped lighthouses they will receive an introduction to the lighthouse as well as a virtual postcard of the lighthouse with more historical information. They will also be able to have a Google street view of the lighthouse with current weather of the destination. We will be utilizing the My Virtual Mission platform to enable live leaderboard updates of all the registered teams and their current location on the course, the ability to sync your favorite fitness apps that will automatically track your activity and move your course dot along the route with a countdown until the finish line.
