Event Description

Family Services of North Alabama is a rape crisis center located in Northeast Alabama that serves DeKalb and Marshall County.

In the U.S., someone is sexually assaulted every 73 seconds.

This year, we decided to do a 7.3k, which is 4.5 miles ... 7.3 for the 73.

A standard 5k is 3.2 miles, but were daring to go the extra mile ... LITERALLY!

And we’re doing it virtually!

Run or walk it anytime during the month of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention Month. Run or walk it all at once or a little everyday.

Run/Walk it alone, with a friend, or in a group. Run/Walk it wherever you want ... outside or on a treadmill!

When you finish, go home or to a restaurant and enjoy a taco and margarita! And ... send us a selfie!

Family Services of North Alabama offers a variety of programs, which serves the family as a whole:

  • Sexual Assault Support Services (provides advocacy, therapy for victims/survivors, prevention strategies, and performs forensic exams).
  • Internet Safety (provides education for students and parents on online grooming and online pedophilia).
  • Youth Suicide Prevention (provides suicide assessments for ages 10-24).
  • Parenthood Program (serves non-custodial parents and assists in finding jobs and furthering education).
  • Family Resource Network (takes a wholistic approach to families in an effort to strengthen the family unit).
