Event Description

1/8/2020 IMPORTANT NOTE: Details and Date of this race have changed! It is now open to participants 13 year of age an older and will now take place on the new date of January 30.

At a time when Cross Country seasons have been postponed or canceled, State Championship competitions would have already taken place, and opportunities for in-person races for all have been minimal, here is an opportunity for teens and others to participate in an in-person cross country trail run. This target audience for this run is High School and other Cross Country runners

FORMAT: According to state guidelines for timed races, participants will start in waves of 10 people and waves will be one minute apart. There will be two groups each for male and female, Level A and Level B, each limited to 40 participants. The course will be 2.5 miles in length on the woodchip/dirt/gravel trails at Big Cross in Pasco. Participants will be the only ones allowed within the start/finish area. They must arrive no more than 15 minutes before their race start time and must leave the start/finish area upon completing their race. They must also wear a mask before starting and after finishing their race and take care to give space when passing or being passed on the trail.

SPECTATORS: According to state guidelines NO SPECTATORS ARE ALLOWED. The guidelines do allow however for, "A member of the same household of a participant or a coach may provide support for a participant along the activity area...The support person must always remain at least 6 feet away from all people aside from their athlete and may not visit the start or finish to avoid congestion or crowding in these areas. Only one parent allowed per participant. Spectators are not allowed in the start/finish area and must social distance from others when watching." (See WA State Phase 2 & 3 Running Race COVID19 Opening Requirements)

VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed, if interested in helping as a volunteer for set-up, course monitoring, and at the start/finish line please contact kubalekb@pasco-wa.gov. This is a way to have a second family member/friend at the event but volunteer space is limited. All Volunteers will be required to arrive at 7:30am for a safety briefing and will be required to wear a mask, social distance, stay home if sick and follow other COVID safety protocols.

GAITER: All race participants will receive a neck gaiter face-cover scarf.
