The Start is within a short distance from the finish (just west of the Rio Rancho Aquatic Centerand Park.approx....25 of a mile on Loma Colorado. front of Rio Rancho H.S. Performing ArtCenter.)

Note:Race Day Registration and Timing Chip Pickup will be located at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. NOTE: ALL PARTICIPANTS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE ENTERED IN THE RESULTS AND BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS MUST WEAR A TIMING CHIP/BIB. ALL BIBS MUST BE PLACED ON THE FRONT OF THER PERSON AND MUST BE VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES DURING THE EVENT.

START INFORMATION:

Startlocation for the 10K and 5K is located just west of the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center and Park -- approximately .25 of a mile west... in front of the Rio Rancho H.S. Performing Arts Center. The Hobbler Gobbler Kids K starts on the south side of the Loma Colorado Park.

 

 

Allraces will start promptly at the designated times listed above. Allow plenty of time to get to the Start Line to seed yourself according to your projected pace time. If you are driving to the race plan to arrive early. See parking information above.

 

Thisrace is a Gun Start with a Timing Chip finish. The "official time" will start when the gun/horn goes off. NOTE: ALL RACES WILL START ON TIME SO PLEASE BE AT THE START 10-15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START.

Where does the race begin?

  • The start of the 10K and 5K is in front of the Rio Rancho High School Performing Arts Center located just west of Loma Colorado Park/Rio Rancho Aquatic Center

Do you have COVID protocols in place?

New Mexico will retire its color-coded, county-by-county system and all COVID health restrictions will be lifted July 1. All limitations on mass gatherings will be gone. The NM Hobbler Gobbler Run may operate at 100% capacity. For those who are not vaccinated or not vaccinated, you are welcome to social distance and wear mask. This will be your choice and not enforced due to the COVID restrictions being lifted. Please note: We will not be providing access to the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center due to safety protocols. Portable toilets will be available next to Loma Colorado Park (finish).

REGISTRATION QUESTIONS

How can I register for this event?

There are 3 ways to register:

Is it safe to register online with my credit card?

  • Yes, RunFit has partnered with RunSignUp.com, who is a leader in online registration. It is safe and secure, and they can guarantee that your information will be safe.  There is a small processing fee when registering online.

If I’m registering with more than one person, can I fill out one form?

  • No, we require individual entry forms for each participant to make sure we have all the information we need for that participant.  We will NOT accept two names on one form.

What’s the age requirement to register for this race?

  • There is no age requirement. All participants must sign the race waiver (if under 18, by a parent/guardian).

Will you send me a confirmation?

  • All online registrations will receive confirmation via e-mail.  For mail in entries, please list a valid e-mail address for confirmation. For all other registrations, you may contact the office to verify your registration at 505-217-4774

I didn’t receive my confirmation e-mail; how can I make sure I’m registered?

What do I receive with my registration?

  • Finisher medal for all participants

  • B-tag timing in the 10K and 5K runs (The NM Hobbler Gobbler Thanksgiving Day Run is an officially timed event using the disposable B-Tag timing system. Timing chips are attached directly to the back of your bib number and are to remain adhered for the duration of the event)

NOTE: Each participant will receive a Race (Bib) number that must be worn on race day. DO NOT alter your race number in any way. Your bib number must be visible and worn on the front outside of all clothing during the entire race so that it may be clearly seen. Bib numbers are nontransferable and MUST be worn by the runner to whom it is assigned.

I can no longer participate in the race (injury, scheduling conflict, etc.), what are the RunFit refund/transfer policies for the race?

  • All entries are non-refundable.  Once we’ve received and processed your entry, you will not receive a refund, you may not give or sell your race number to other people, and entry fees are not transferable to the next year’s race or any other race.
  • You are able to transfer your entry to another person for a fee of $10.  This can be done at packet pickup prior to race day.  There will be no transfers on race day.

If I’m unable to attend and already registered, can I still get my shirt?

  • No. Sorry.

On my registration, I misspelled my name, age, I’ve recently moved, etc.  How can I fix this?

  • You are able to self-edit your registration through Friday, November 19. Afterwards, please call the office at 505-217-4774 or e-mail stephenpino@hotmail.com

Can I defer my entry to next year if I am unable to run/walk this year?

  • No, participants cannot defer their entries to the next year if they are unable to run.

 

PACKET PICK UP INFORMATION

If I’m pre-registered, do I need to bring identification to packet pick up?

  • It is not required but it’s always a good idea to bring it.

Am I required to pick up my race bib and shirt at packet pick up?

  • It is not required but strongly suggested so you avoid waiting in lines on race day and guaranteeing your shirt size.

 

Can someone else pick my race bib and shirt?

  • Yes, both can be picked up by/for family and friends.  It’s always a good idea to bring your confirmation e-mail.

Can I have my packet mailed to me?

  • No. This option is only available for those who chose a virtual event and selected “shipping” prior to completing their registration.

RESULTS/AWARDS

How is this race timed?

  • The 10K and 5K races are officially timed event using the disposable B-tag timing system.  Timing chips are attached directly to the back of your bib number and are to remain adhered for the duration of the event.

Where can I see my results?

  • Results will be posted live during the race near the finish.  Results may also be found on the RunFit website: www.irunfit.org

When will the results be posted?

  • The results will be posted before noon upon completion of the race

What do I do if my results are incorrect or missing?

COURSE QUESTIONS

Where can I park the morning of the race?

  • PLEASE USE DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS ONLY. DO NO PARK ON ROADS OR PEDESTRIAN/BIKE PATHS. Do I have to run the race or can I walk instead?

  • You may walk any of the events.  However, the police may ask you to move to the sidewalk if you do not finish the race within a certain time for the safety of everyone.

For how long will the course be open?

  • The route will stay open until 11:30am. Police, at their discretion, will move you to the sidewalk if need be.

Where is/are the water stop(s)?

  • There will be two water stations for the 10K (Mile 2 and 4) and one water station for the 5K. (Mile 2)

Are there restrooms (portable toilets) along the course?

  • No, restrooms are available near the start/finish line located at Loma Colorado Park

Am I able to bring a stroller to the race?

  • Yes, but only for the 5K. We ask that any baby strollers start the race at the back of the pack to not create any trip hazards for other participants when the race begins. Note: Your child must be always secured in the stroller.

Am I able to bring my dog to the race?

  • No! Although the City of Rio Rancho has nearly 21 dog friendly parks, Loma Colorado Park is not one of them. Please leave your dog at home.

 

 

Where can spectators, friends, and family watch on the course?  Can they be at the start or finish areas?

  • All are welcome to check out the NM Hobbler Gobbler at the start (Loma Colorado Ave. just west of the finish) and finish (Loma Colorado Park). You can be at the different mile markers and water stops as well. Please be cognizant of traffic and the participants as they run/walk. Please listen to police/security instruction as well. We recommend staying at the finish to see your friends and/or loved ones finish under the giant RunFit inflatable!

Can I wear headphones on the course?

Can I run with my GPS device?

Yes, participants may wear their GPS watches/devices. However, these items do not count as "second timing devices" and will not be recognized by the event as official times or distances.

What is not allowed on the course?

  • For everyone's safety baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Note: See information about “dogs”. Strollers and baby joggers are permitted on the 5K course only. Strollers and baby joggers must start at the back of the pack and your child must be always secured in the stroller.

Where will restrooms be located on race morning?

  • Restrooms are available next to Loma Colorado Park (Finish)

Can I volunteer for the race?

Is there a bag check?

  • Yes, bag check will be located at the registration area: Loma Colorado Park which stays open from 7:30-11am.

Does the event benefit a charity? How can I make a donation?

  • Event proceeds benefits RunFit, a nonprofit, 501 (c) 3 organization benefiting before, during and after school running program for children to help combat childhood obesity and build community.
    • Help make the holiday season brighter for others this year. Please bring canned goods and non-perishable items with you to any packet pickup site or on race day. Your donations will be delivered to local charitable organizations.
      Your generosity is greatly appreciated during this time of year. Thank you for your support!

Do you have a Lost and Found in case I lose something at the event or the racecourse?

  • Yes. We will have a Lost & Found for items that were lost and found on race day. If you are missing a personal item, please stop by the registration table at the event and/or call: 505.217.4774.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY:

Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds, and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the RunFit website: www.irunfit.orgso that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary. The Race Director will monitor the weather and decide if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race. Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 15 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15-minute increments. If extreme heat is predicted, extra water will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures.

 

MEDICAL SUPPORT:

Medicalstaff members will be ready to assist you at any time. Radio communications personnel will be positioned at every aid/water station along the course.

The event officials have the right to withdraw any runner from the race that appears in distress or atrisk.Ifyouhavea health or medical problem at the Finish Line, you will be directed to the MedicalArea near finish.Pleasecooperateifyouare asked to go for a checkup. If you feel that youneed help at any point, please ask for it!

Ifyou are unable to finish the race for any reason, please notify a race official of your bib number so that the medical personnel are aware.

 

FINISH INFORMATION:

The overall and division award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on race day immediately following each event.

 

10K:

Overallprizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time.

Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.

Award times will be determined by gun time.

 

5K:

Overallprizes will be awarded to the top three men and women determined by gun time.

Age group prizes will be given to the top three finishers in the following categories for men and women: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59,

60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. Award times will be determined by gun time.

 

GOBBLER CHASE KIDS K:

Allregistered participants (11 and under) are eligible to participate in the RunFit Kids K. The start of the RunFit Kids K will begin at 10:15 in the Loma Colorado Park just west of the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. All participants will receive a special recognition award at the finish.

 

POST RACE:

Post-Racerefreshments will be held at the park.

 

RESULTS:

Results from the 10K and 5K events will be posted on the RunFit website: www.irunfit.org.
