Event Description

Hey friends. Life has been challenging lately. Tensions has been high, fear is all around us, our health is suffering and we feel so divided. And don't you feel kinda helpless about it all? And tired, so tired. But we're not helpless. There are things we can do about all of this and it doesn't mean having to conquer the world and all it's problems. It doesn't mean having to do something huge. It only requires movement! Walking, getting in steps every single day. Stay with me...

Walking has a long list of physical and mental benefits. “There are many reasons to walk for exercise,” says Ann Green, M.S., past heptathlon world athlete, yoga teacher and fitness studio owner. “Walking improves fitness, cardiac health, alleviates depression and fatigue, improves mood, creates less stress on joints and reduces pain, can prevent weight gain, reduce risk for cancer and chronic disease, improve endurance, circulation, and posture, and the list goes on…”

People that are highest risk for severe complications with Covid, the Flu and really any virus or disease can benefit hugely from a regular routine of walking. Yes we need to continue to social distance, wear masks, etc but how about let us also work on not being in that high risk category?! Not to mention we need something to relieve stress and help fight fatigue. It's a great way to get out of the house and possibly socialize too! Such as with a neighbor or relative. Socialization and connection are so important and we've been cut off from our normal routines of gatherings.

February is American Heart Month! What better time to work on taking care of our hearts?! I mean this in so many ways. Not only making our hearts healthier and stronger but also filling our hearts figuratively with more joy, connection, love and togetherness. And of course there's Valentine's Day coming up! So why not do something to show love to yourself. To your mind, to your body & to your heart. Love starts with you and it spreads. And we need that more than ever.

So let's do this! Get your step counter charged up. Track your steps on here and stay accountable. It will become routine and you'll be so thankful you did.

Set a daily goal. The CDC recommends 7k-8k steps a day. A lot of people aim for 10k a day. This does not have to be all at once! Break it up into smaller increments if it seems daunting or if you're short on time. Remember, nothing else matters if you don't have your health...make this a priority!

Everyone that participates will receive a super soft long sleeve shirt, a magnet and a beanie. But because I want to help make sure you are successful, you MUST complete at least 100,000 miles for the month (28 days) to receive the swag. That's just over 3,500 a day. You can do that, I know you can.
