The 8.15-mile, relatively flat course, starts on Nimitz Hwy fronting Aloha Tower in downtown Honolulu, winds its way along the historic harbor, down Nimitz Hwy, Kamehameha Hwy and on to the Aloha Stadium.
As a service to all participants, GAR provides free buses to the start line in downtown Honolulu before the race and to downtown Honolulu and Waikiki after the race. Collapsible strollers can be loaded on the buses There are 10,000+ participants heading toward Aloha Stadium in the pre-dawn hours; please allow plenty of time to arrive at the Aloha Stadium, park and board the bus.
Take bus from Aloha Stadium to the Start Line 4am – 6am
Take bus from Sheraton Waikiki Bus Depot to the Start Line 4:30am – 6am.
Take bus from Aloha Stadium to downtown Honolulu (runs as filled) 8:30am – 11:30am
Take bus from Aloha Stadium to Sheraton Waikiki (runs hourly) 8:45am – 11:45am
Aid stations are at miles 2, 3, 5, 7 and at the finish. Each aid station has water, a medical staff and portable restrooms.
There are 7 corrals at the start line. We use a wave start with a 2 minute gap between each corral. This makes our course safer for all participants. Refer to pace signs at each corral and seed yourself accordingly. *Note: All stroller pushers and non-competitive wheelchairs must start in the last corral for the safety of all participants. Stroller pushers must walk the entire course.
ON COURSE ENTERTAINMENT
Entertainment is along the entire course! Live bands, radio stations with DJ’s, school cheerleaders to help cheer you on and lots more! We make sure that you are entertained throughout the course.

7:30 a.m. Continuous Band Music begins
8:30 a.m. Awards Ceremony begins – Sponsors are introduced and Prizes awarded to the Top Race finishers.
9:15 a.m. Random drawing Prize giveaway/entertainment
10:15 a.m. High School Team Challenge Relay begins
10:45 a.m. Grand Prize drawings, Lucky 7 Drawing & Presidents’ 100 club drawing!
Only GAR finisher’s receive a Finisher T-shirt. Shirt distribution is at Aloha Stadium. Size selection is final. There are no refunds or other substitute T-shirts if you, for whatever reason, are unable to complete the race. Finisher T-shirts are not awarded to Stroller Babies.
Anyone who does not follow the GAR safety rules and procedures may be deleted from the official results and disqualified from the GAR for up to 5 years.
No heelies, roller skates, in-line skates, bikes, scooters, skateboards, cars or hover boards are allowed on the race course or through the finish line at Aloha Stadium.
No unregistered runners
No animals, except service dogs, on course
No running with another participant’s bib number
No jumping into the race along the course. All participants must cross the start line. If you do not have a start time you will be disqualified
No starting before your corral is authorized to start
No cutting the course
No running with a baby jogger, stroller or assisted wheelchair at the Start Line. All baby joggers, strollers, assisted wheelchairs, “non-competitive” wheelchair racers must start at the back of the pack.
