Event Description
Our annual Red Shoes Run is a morning full of fun for the whole family. The Red Shoes Run is affectionately called the "Mini-Bridge Run," as it is perfect training for the "big one" later in the year! The race starts and finishes at the Ronald McDonald House© and is perfect for both experienced and new runners/walkers. Plus, your 4 legged family members can join too.
Out of an abundance of concern about the health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and sponsors, RMHC will adhere to CDC requirements set in place. This includes social distancing, masks mandates, and staggered start times. Runners will be notified of packet pick up times and post awards and medals.
Virtual 5K Option - As a virtual 5K, you select your race course. You can walk, run, or use a treadmill. The race will be held Friday, April 2nd – Sunday, April 4th. You choose which day you want to run or run multiple days. Instead of gathering at the Ronald McDonald House and running the campus of Memorial Health, we encourage you to run 3.1 miles individually, wherever you are. Different streets. Same weekend. Same mission.
We will be recognizing all registered participants - Awards will be given out to all age categories; including overall winners and all registered participants will receive a packet pick up gift bag. In fact, since we have a virtual option, please encourage your runner friends to join the fun. During the race, we want to see you running on Facebook, Instagram, and cheering for other runners. Contests! We also encourage you to be creative. We will have prizes for the following contests; Best RMHC Theme, Best Easter Theme, and More!
How to submit your time if you participate in the Virtual 5K - We will be emailing you a link the week of the race to submit your time. All race times need to be submitted by midnight Sunday. You can run multiple days if you choose, however your best time will be recorded for your age group and overall times.
Don't like to run? You can still support the Ronald McDonald House and the families and children we serve, from the comfort of your own bed. Turn your registration into a donation with our Sleep in for Families registration. Your registration will include running socks, a FREE McDonald’s value meal coupon, and a Red Shoes Run bandanna!

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire is a nonprofit organization that provides a home away from home for families of critically ill and injured children who are seeking treatment at our local children’s hospital or a nearby medical facility. In 2020, the Ronald McDonald House remained open and provided over 2500 family night stays. 100% of all proceeds raised from this event, stay and in our community.
