Event Description
The Kiwanis Club of Baxter is proud to continue and enhance the tradition of this beautiful and exciting triathlon. The Brainerd Lakes area has long been a great vacation destination and now we have one of the premier Sprint Triathlons as well! The Lakes Country Triathlon continues to build into one of the best triathlons in the state. We hope you will enjoy the great bike course that is over the river and through the woods and now smooth. We will again be using Cedar Scenic Drive and heading west. It will be a beautiful ride with very little traffic.
COURSE
The race begins with a 1/4-mile swim in quiet Whipple Lake (known for its calm waters), then switches to a 14-mile bike through the rolling hills surrounding the Baxter/Brainerd Lakes area, and ends with a very flat 3.2 mile run through a quiet residential area. The Lakes Country Triathlon is a great race, be it your first or fiftieth!
All cyclists must observe Minnesota traffic laws. Bike certified hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited and will be monitored closely. No listening devices are allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course for safety reasons.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Registration will close on Thursday, August 26th at midnight. Mailed in entries must be postmarked by Monday August 24th. No entries will be accepted after these dates. Orders received after Friday August 20th will not receive a t-shirt. Please register early. Registrations will not be taken once capacity is reached.
Proceeds raised from this event will be put back into the community to benefit the youth in the Lakes Area and Kiwanis charities.
SAFE EVENT STANDARDS:
As we get closer to the event we will be monitoring recommendations from the CDC and MDH to develop a plan to ensure a safe event. We will work closely with our city and county officials on implementing that plan. More details will be posted on our website as we get closer to the event.
REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
Registration fees are non-refundable unless the Race is cancelled due to COVID-19 issues. You may transfer your entry to someone else up to 48 hours before the race starts.
