Event Description

The First Annual "Virtual" Patriots Day 5K Run/Walk will be held April 1 - April 30, 2021.  Participant T-shirts and medal designs to be posted soon!

Marisa Kapavik, a junior at Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic High School, in partnership with Helping a Hero’s ‘The Wounded Hero Home Program’, is building an adapted home for SGT (Ret.) Sue Downes, USA.  While in transit on a humanitarian mission in Afghanistan in 2006, Sue’s caravan hit a land mine powered by a rocket propelled grenade.  Her injuries were extensive; she endured two leg amputations, internal brain injuries, and suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD.)  

All proceeds generated from this event benefit Helping a Hero, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, restricted for the construction of Sgt. Downes adapted home in Cypress, Texas which is scheduled for completion in 2021.
