Event Description

Inspired by the traditional March Madness bracket, You RUN You is hosting the 2nd annual "March Madness, Running Style" virtual race series!

If you participated with us last year then you know how fun, challenging and motivating this unique virtual competition is! Each week you will compete in head to head, single elimination running challenges where the competitor with the most miles wins and advances to the next week. As each week progresses, so does the competition pushing you to work harder week over week.

If you lose the head to head competition, don't worry you're still able to compete! In some tournaments you're put into a consolation bracket, but in this tournament you join the "Volume Based Leaderboard" where you win by having the highest, average weekly miles. And guess what? I'll let you in on the secret of how to win this board, CONSISTENCY!!

This competition is all about getting you motivated to log miles consistently over 5 weeks. The perfect spring series to kick off your 2021 training for you upcoming virtual or (cross our fingers) in person races!

Please read through all of the "Bracketology Bi-laws" before signing up (it's kinda complicated).

This year's event will have a $25 registration fee and I will be offering participation medals as an enhancement to last year's awesome event! In addition, I will be donating a portion of the proceeds generated by this race to the Ainsley's Angels of America Syracuse chapter.  Ainsley's Angels of America aims to build awareness about America's special needs community through inclusion in all aspects of life, including endurance events. Ainsley's Angels is a national 501(c)3 that started a Syracuse chapter in 2019. 2019 was an extremely successful inaugural year with enrollment of 7 Angel Athletes, over 20 Angel Runners and competed in 6 local races.  Momentum was building for 2020 with funds being raised to add even more riders, until the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Almost 12 months later, we've seen the disproportionate impact this pandemic has played, and continues to play, on people with disabilities. Your entry to this race not only will ensure 5 weeks of fitness motivation, but also help contribute to protecting the future of endurance sports for people with disabilities.

More information about Ainsley's Angels can be found at https://ainsleysangels.org/

"Bracketology Bi-laws"

The rules are simple (sort of):
1. Tournament begins @ 12:00 am Monday March 8th and ends @ 11:59 pm Sunday April 11th
2. Miles must be run between 12:00 am Monday and 11:59 pm Sunday to be counted for the week
3. There will be 2 ways to win: 1. Through a traditional, head to head bracket competition overall winner 2. Highest average weekly volume (1 winner per bracket)
4. Bracket & leaderboard updates will be posted by noon on Mondays
5. Bracket and leaderboard results will be posted to Instagram @runningbridget and Facebook @You RUN You (make sure you "Like" both to not miss an update)
6. Miles will only be counted for intentional fitness miles. This means miles logged running, walking, snowshoeing on road, trail or treadmill can be counted.
7. Total daily steps will not be counted
8. Registration is limited to the first 32 registrants. Registration after 32 will go on a waitlist until a second full bracket can be completed, and so forth.
9. Provide your unique "Bracket Name" and expected average weekly miles for seeding
10. Average weekly miles are on the honor code, so be honorable!
