Event Description

This year, the Social Action Leadership Team (SALT) is working to raise $25,000 for our World Relief Campaign (WRC). This year's WRC is A Haven for Hope: Restorative Housing. We will be working closely with Community Change Center, a new organization in Gary, Indiana that was founded by a recent graduate of Valparaiso University's Social Work department, Samantha Brugett. The money that SALT raises for Community Change Center will be used to rehabilitate two residential properties that will house formally incarcerated individuals. During residents' time in one of these houses, they will receive access ti case management, which will allow them to obtain meaningful employment, education, insurance, and other necessities to assist them in becoming productive, contributing members of society.

In participating in this race, either in-person or virtually, you will be supporting SALT's mission to raise $25,000 for the Community Change Center and help to work to break the cycle of injustice in our criminal justice system.
