Event Description

April signifies National Minority Health Awareness Month.  In an effort that we all keep moving, The National Council of Negro Women, Inc (NCNW) Suffolk Section is hosting its inaugural health challenge starting April 15 -April 21.  The challenge is for you and all other registrants to reach a 5K mark in 1 week.  You can walk, run, jog, bike, roll, pedal or swim but the goal is for you to reach the 5K mark the best way you can.  In addition, you can complete this challenge from anywhere you prefer - around your house, on your treadmill, your stationary bike, at your local park, anywhere you are most comfortable!  NCNW Suffolk wants to promote a healthy lifestyle for all and this is a great way to get started and get moving!  Invite your family and friends to join you in this challenge.  And send in your pictures to motivate others!! You will track the distance you move on your own but make sure you update your registration when you reach your goal.  The first 100 registrants to register/complete the challenge will receive a FREE NCNW Suffolk Section mask.  So please sign up today!

The National Council of Negro Women is an “organization of organizations” (comprised of 300 campus and community-based sections and 32 national women’s organizations) that enlightens, inspires and connects more than 2,000,000 women and men.  Its mission is to lead, advocate for, and empower women of African descent, their families and communities. Proceeds from the 2021 health challenge will benefit select Social Action programs hosted by the Suffolk Section.  In previous years, Social Action Programs hosted by the Suffolk Section have assisted women and families through provision of clothing, food and other necessary items for the homeless and economically disadvantaged.
