Event Description
The New England Water Works Water for People committee is hosting a virtual 6K fun run in honor of National Drinking Water Week. All the proceeding from each registration, minus processing fees, will be donated to Water for People on behalf of the committee. The run can be completed anytime during National Drinking Water Week and you can submit your times for prizes!
Why 6K? Here are six reasons:
- Water access directly impacts women and girls, who walk an average of 6 kilometers to get water.
- Access to clean water transforms communities.
- Water is fundamental in fighting outbreaks like COVID-19 by providing sanitation and hygiene solutions.
- To honor and amplify the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: "clean water and sanitation for all"
- When children don't have to walk for water, it gives them the opportunity to stay in school.
- The impact of your donation will be multiplied when you fundraise as a team of individual!
