Zeta Tau Alpha’s chapter at the University of Virginia has hosted our annual Run for Life 5K in Charlottesville, Virginia every year for the past 25 years. Our race benefits the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation to fund scholarships, educational programming, leadership development and our fight against breast cancer, which includes our partnerships with Bright Pink, the NFL and the American Cancer Society. In years past, we have attracted approximately 1000 participants and raised nearly $30,000 for breast cancer each year. This race means so much to our chapter members, UVA, and the Charlottesville community.
Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in the United States. In order to continue to raise awareness for the significance of this disease, inspire hope for a cure, and maintain our education efforts, we will be hosting our Virtual Edition of our Run for Life 5K from April 23rd-25th, 2021. It is our hope that on these dates, you can use this event to post pictures of you walking, running, or from Run for Life 5K of years past in honor of breast cancer. We also encourage you to use the graphics in this event along with your own photos to post on Facebook or Instagram (tag @zeta_uva). While we may not be able to host our incredible event in person this year, we hope that through these efforts, we can honor the community that has supported our race for years and continue to raise awareness for breast cancer.
We invite you to run the race in your hometown, but if you are a member of the Charlottesville community, our event on RaceJoy has three different routes available within the area. Not in Charlottesville? No problem! Simply upload your times into the app and you will be ranked on the leaderboard.
Once you sign up, be sure to update your status on our event Facebook page. Just like years past, we are continuing our photo contest! Post you and your friends running the 5k in your costume and tag @zeta_uva on Instagram for a chance to win. We can't wait to see you out there!
