Event Description

While the title of the race narrows the issue down to one person, we're raising awareness about United States conservatorship laws and how they can be used by unethical individuals to take total control of another person and their resources and even isolate them from the rest of their family.

We're donating all of the profits from this race to the Center for Estate Administration Reform (CEAR), a North Carolina Nonprofit.

CEAR was established after one of the founders lost her father in Las Vegas when she discovered his landlord and longtime friend had stolen $220,000 from him and was systematically exploiting and neglecting him. When confronted, his “friend” took him hostage and was able to completely isolate him from all family with the help of a professional guardian and three attorneys until he died in 2015.  Terri had all the legal authority and executed documents to protect her father and yet law enforcement negligence and the predatory legal community ensured his complete exploitation.

This is the state of our current conservatorship laws across the US. Laws that need to be changed to protect individuals. You don't have to have millions in assets to become a victim of these laws, a 70-year-old in their own home or even someone with just a $1,500 monthly social security benefit can become a target.

Join us for a fun virtual 5k and wear your race shirt often to help raise awareness of this issue and create change in our laws.
