WHAT IS TIGER CLAW VERTUAL?
One activity. 8000 feet of vert. 8 coveted Vert Coins.
Tiger Claw VERTual is our virtual version of our in-person event, Tiger Claw, and is designed to represent the spirit & challenge of Tiger Claw with a focus on max vert, less mileage and incredible community. The namesake, Tiger Mountain, is the biggest of The Issaquah Alps just outside of Seattle, Washington and has long been the training ground to some of trail running’s greatest runners. Technical trails, relentless climbs and quad-blowing descents make for perfect training and trail fun. While the Tiger Claw event is a unique choose-your-own-adventure race consisting of three summits of Tiger Mountain's West peaks culminating in 8500ft over 25 miles, our Tiger Claw VERTual event focuses on achieving 8000ft of gain in a single activity. Simply put, Tiger Claw VERTual is focused on completing a similar level of athletic achievement, but on your home turf, in your own time and on your own route. As a perk for participating, we'll send you a coveted "vert coin" for every 1000ft of vert you climb during your activity (max of 8 coins). Finally, if in the true spirit of Tiger Claw you manage to complete your 8000ft of vert in less than 20 miles, we'll send you the rarest 9th "claw" coin to add to your collection!
WHEN IS TIGER CLAW VERTUAL?
You will have 72hrs to complete your single activity starting on May 7, 2021 at 12:01am pacific daylight time and ending at 11:59pm pdt on May 9, 2021!
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Starting at 12:01am pdt on Friday May 7th, 2021, you will have 72hrs to complete ONE activity with the goal of reaching at least 8000ft (2439m). Track this activity with a GPS device/app (like Strava or MapMyRun) and submit your results by Sunday May 9th, 2021 at 11:59pm pdt. To be eligible for prizes, you will need to upload a GPX, FIT or TCL file via the results submission form for results verification. Once all the results have been tabulated, we will send you one custom-made, wooden "vert coin" for each 1000ft of vert you climbed (up to 8). If you ran 3785ft of vert, we will send you 3 vert coins. If you run 7999ft of vert, we will send you 7 vert coins.
BONUS: If you manage to run at least 8000ft of vert in LESS than 20 miles, you will receive the bonus - and rarest - ninth "claw coin" to acknowledge that you completed a near-Tiger Claw level accomplishment!
WHAT IF I CANT CLIMB 8000ft?
That’s ok! The goal when we created Tiger Claw was to create an inclusive and challenging event that’d test athletes of all abilities. It’s a hard enough challenge that forces runners to take it seriously but allows them to finish in time to grub on some lunch. With Tiger Claw VERTual, while the goal can seem daunting all in one go (and we know a lot of you will be doing hill repeats), you can focus on getting as much vert as YOU can! If you can only climb 1000ft, you still get an awesome coin to remember the badassery. 5100ft is your max and it took you all day? No problem, you’ll be rolling in your pile of 5 Vert Coins soon. It’s all about pushing yourself and seeing what you’re capable of!
WHAT DO I GET?
Your $25 registration (+ RunSignup Fee) includes all of the following:
- Vert Coins - For every 1000ft of vert you crush, you will receive 1 (one) custom-made, wooden Vert Coins (maximum of 8)
- Claw Coin - If you achieve the difficult accomplishment of 8000ft of vert in under 20 miles, you'll receive the additional ninth Claw Coin
- Tiger Claw VERTual sticker pack
- U.S. shipping for all coins & sticker included via USPS (Runners outside the U.S. will have a $10 shipping/handling fee, see below)
- Custom Tiger Claw VERTual digital race bib
- Earn Prizes - we'll be giving away a ton of awesome prizes during our live awards show on Tuesday May 11, 2021
TREADMILL VERSION?
We wanted to recognize those with vert-focused treadmills or those who don't have access to outdoor vertical with a separate "Treadmill" category. If you plan on using a treadmill for your Tiger Claw VERTual activity, please register with the "Treadmill" option. This option includes all of the above with the $25 registration (+ RunSignup fee). To verify these results we will require a picture is submitted with your results for verification.
SUBMIT YOUR RESULTS
Submitting your results is simple! First, make sure to use any sort of GPS tracking device or service to track your single activity. Then, submit your results on our Results Submission form. Once we receive all of our results, we'll determine winners (Fastest to 8000, Least Mileage to 8000, etc) and celebrate with our live, interactive awards show on Tuesday May 11th, 2021. All results MUST be submitted by Sunday, May 9th, 2021 at 11:59pm pdt to be eligible for any prizes. To be eligible for prizes, A GPX, FIT or TCL file must be attached to the results submission. Treadmill runners will need to submit a photo of their treadmill screen upon completion with their results.
WHEN DO I GET MY COINS?
We are working with the amazing Aravaipa Artworx to create our custom, wooden Tiger Claw Vert Coins and Claw Coins. Once all results have been tabulated, we will start manufacturing the coins which can take up to 4 weeks at which point they will ship to the address that you submitted with your registration. United States shipping is included in the registration cost. For any shipping outside of the US, there will be a $10 shipping & handling fee added during registration. All coins will be shipped via USPS. International registrants may incur duties or customs fees that are the responsibility of the registrant as we have no control over that process.
PRICE CHANGE & BIB ASSIGNMENTS
Registration is $25 (+ RunSignup fee) through the end of April. On May 1st, registration changes to $35 (+ RunSignup fee), so be sure to register as soon as possible! Your bib numbers will be automatically assigned during registration and you can download/print them from your registration email that is sent promptly after registration.
