Event Description

This Juneteenth (June 19th, 2021) help us celebrate the 153 anniversary of the day enslaved black people in Galveston, Texas, became Americans under the law and has become an observance of the end of slavery in the US. Freedom is a journey we take together as a country, and this race is a reminder of our commitment together. Organized by the Jackson County NAACP, this race in Mark Watson Park is a fundraiser for students scholarships and to help bring the Harriet Tubman Journey to Freedom Statue to Sylva on tour. This race has a 1 km fun walk and a virtual bike race that you can do too!
