The Virginia Beach Lifeguard Association (VBLA) - Junior Lifeguard Camp - is committed to teaching the fundamentals of beach safety, first aid and environmental awareness during physically active and fun filled sessions. The Junior Lifeguard Campers will learn from and sometimes along side current and alumni Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service (VBLS) Lifeguards gaining a true sense of the role, responsibilities, and reward of today’s oceanfront lifesavers.
The camps this summer will meet and base at the Surf & Rescue Museum at 2401 Atlantic Avenue. The days in session will start at 8:30am and wrap up at 11:30am. The final day of each session will consist of competition and lunch provided for all of the campers and the camp will end on those days at 12:30pm.
The evening before the first day of camp, an orientation will be hosted at Aquawear (521 N Birdneck Rd, VB, VA 23451). There additional camp forms must be signed, camp tee and packet will be avaialble for pick up and VBLA JG Suits (optional) will be available for purchase. In addition, all instructions for drop off and pick up will be detailed.
Last, note all campers will have an opportunity to compete at the VBLA JG Invitational on Sunday, July 25. In addition, if campers are interested, the USLA Nationals will be held in South Padre, TX, and anyone interested may compete as long as they have competed one of the camps. www.usla.org/nationals
