Event Description

Year 7!!!  We are THRILLED to invite you to this year's Nathan's Ninjas family fun run taking on July 23 at 9:00 a.m. Last year, we started our official Nathan's Ninjas non-profit organization to educate and advocate for Duchenne muscular dystrophy - the most common degenerative genetic muscle disease in boys. We have been blessed to have so much support over the past 6 years and to have helped fund family assistance and cutting edge research for treatment and one day a cure for the disease, but we know we can do even more!

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is typically diagnosed between the ages of 2 and 6 and primarily affects boys. In fact, 99 percent of the almost 20,000 new cases each year are boys, meaning 1 boy out of every 3,500 will be diagnosed. Duchenne is a progressive muscle wasting disease so as other boys are getting stronger, Nathan and others like him are getting weaker.  Nathan has been full-time in a scooter for the past 2 years and will soon transfer to a full fledged wheelchair.  Every day he faces challenges, but he always pushes through and comes out on the other side with the brightest smile! These boys are all amazing and we can't thank you enough for helping us help them!

Again, Ninjas will gather at Heritage Park in Canton and also offer a virtual experience for those who'd like to take advantage.  We are so excited for the opportunity to make a difference in the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy! Can't wait to see you there!!!
