The "A Master Chief 5K" has been created to fund a scholarship, and future monument, in memory of Master Chief Charles Henry Brubeck. Master Chief Brubeck served 27.5 years, in the United States Navy, and was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetary in 2013. Master Chief Brubeck was a Electronic Technician. This 5K run/walk will aid in raising funds for a scholarship for Electronic Technicians who graduate top of there class at the Electronic Technician school at Great Lakes Naval station. Another portion, of the funds, will be put towards funding a memorial monument in memory of Master Chief Brubeck.
Master Chief Brubeck traveled to over 50 countries, in his lifetime, and pressed the importance of respect for the American flag. He was a man full of compassion, and grace, towards others. He read nearly every National Geographic Magazine ever published and several Encyclopedia books. He loved to understand concepts and various different ways of thinking. He was always about being fair and humane to others. He passed away with his daughters and wife surrounding him.
