Event Description

Mighty Boys Run (MBR) is a fun, eight-week, physical activity-based youth development program for boys in 3rd – 5th grade that uses running to teach the boys goal setting.

Over the eight-weeks, the curriculum      inspires boys to develop character, courage, to stand up for what is right, to lead with their unique talents and strengths, and set positive examples amongst their peers.

Trained leaders coach small teams through lessons which include     discussions, activities and running games. The eight-week program meets once per week for 60 minutes after school. The lessons explore team building, dealing with bullying and gossip, resilience, standing up for self and others, bravery, empathy, and gratitude. The program culminates with a celebratory 5k run that provides a tangible sense of achievement where the boys challenge themselves, give their best effort and encourage the same of their peers.

Each site will bring in male guest speakers during the eight-weeks so the boys can identify with      role models who display courage, bravery, and positive attitude.

Mighty Boys Run creates a safe atmosphere for emotional expressions, growth and development. The overall goal of the program is to promote emotional well-being in the early years, for the boys to grow in self-esteem and self-confidence, all to avoid risky behaviors as they mature in adolescence.
