Event Description
Welcome to the Clemson Wildlife Society's fundraising Wild Life Trail Run! Choose your challenge with marathon (26.2 miles), half-marathon (13.1 miles) and 10k (6.1 miles) distances. All distances explore the trails of the Clemson University Forest (previously the Clemson Experimental Forest). This is a trail race with >2,000 feet of elevation gain in the marathon, >1,000 feet of elevation gain in the half-marathon, and >400 feet of elevation gain in the 10k. There will be sticks, roots, rocks, and plenty to keep it fun and exciting. Expect far better views than on your road runs, but also slower times. Start and finish will be near the horseshoe loop, which you will pass through every 6-7 miles. This is where the aid station will be located, which will include water and electrolyte drink. ⚠️ Do not rely solely on aid stations. Carry hydration, nutrition, and gear appropriate for the distance. We also are a cupless event, so please bring a cup/bottle/bladder to fill up.
All races start with several hundred meters of road for runners to spread out. This is followed by <1 mile of mostly wide trail, before opening onto a gravel road for another half mile so runners can spread out more before the narrow (lakeside) trails begin.
The first 50 Clemson students to email wwboone@clemson.edu will receive a $10 discount code to use when registering. Please email from your Clemson email account so I can verify that you are a student.
All racers will receive a t-shirt with their registration. More on that once class is in session again and we can vote on a final design!
The race cap is 250 people based on parking.
The marathon will start at 7:30, half-marathon at 8:00, and 10k at 8:30.
Times will be recorded and posted after the race and awards will be given to the top runners of each race. This is a fun run, so times are not chipped.
Thank you in advance for your support of the Clemson Wildlife Society - the professional organization for undergraduate Wildlife Biologists!
